On this day - July 1st 1974 - The worlds first female president 

Isabel Peron was the third wife of the former president of Argentina, Juan Peron. She served as vice-president  of Argentina under his regime, but when he died in june 1974 was Isabel sworn in as the president of Argentina. She served from 1st of July 1974 until 24th of March 1976 and was the first female president of any country in the world. She was overthrown and deported in 1976 and have since lived in Spain, who refuses to extradite her to Argentina, who wants to arrest her for her crimes during her presidency.

February 2

On this day - Feburary 2 1536 - Buenos Aires was founded 

The capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, was founded by a Spanish expedition led by Pedro de Mendoza. Mendoza was a Spanish explorer who in 1529 offered to travel to South America to establish Spanish colonies on his own expense. Buenos Aires was first given the name Ciudad de Nuesta Señora Santa Maria del Buen Ayr. In the 17th century became the shorter Buenos Aires the common used name for the city. The first Spanish settlement was driven away by the indigenous already in 1542. It wasn't until 1580 that a permanent settlement in Buenos Aires was established. In 1816 declared Argentina its independence and in 1880 was Buenos Aires selected as the country's capital. It is today the biggest city in Argentina, and one of the biggest in South America.

December 22nd

On this day - 22nd of December 1992 - The Archives of Terror were found

On this day in 1992 Dr Martín Almada and judge José Augustín Fernández found the Archives of Terror. The archives were found in a police station in Asunción, capital of Paraguay. Fernández was looking for a prisoner, but instead he discovered an archive that described the fate of thousands of Latin Americans. Their fate was sealed by the security services of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, under the codename Condor. Under this codename an estimated 50,000 people were killed, 30,000 just disappeared and 400,000 were imprisoned.  General Pinochet court case was mostly based on evidence from the archive. Operation Condor was in effect from 1975 and the United States of America provided technical support and military aid until at least 1978. There were several political incidences where the goal was to change the leaders of countries. For the most part the targets were communist friendly people
