September 30th

On this day - 30th of September 1968 - The first Boeing 747 was rolled out of production

The first flight of the 747 was not to be this day, that day came the 9th of February 1969. The first test flight had some minor issues but it was reported that it handled very well. During the test period there were other flaws found that caused delays. This delays caused Boing to have some financial issues, their debt was 2 Billion dollars and if additional founds was not procured it might have threatened Boing it self. In the end the 747 was cleared and deliveries began. This massive undertaking caused Boing to have a monopoly in very large passenger aircrafts for many years.
