On this day – 28th of September 1928 was penicillin discovered
Sir Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin by, more or less, an accident. One of his laboratory projects had mistakenly been left open during the night. This is where he first discovered penicillin, on the morning of September 28th. His findings, however, was not given much attention at the time, and it took another few years before penicillin as actually used to cure sickness. The first successful attempt was in 1930, but penicillin wasn’t commonly used for this before the 1940s.
