Israel is a Jewish state in the middle east that was established in 1948 when the British mandate for Palestine ended. The declaration as given by the head of the world Zionist organization, David Ben-Gurion. The deceleration of an independent Israel state was controversial, and neighboring countries invaded the newly established state the day after the declaration. The Arab-Israel war lasted for a year.
